Situated at an elevation of 1,500m (5,000 ft), Verbier is a classic French-speaking Swiss mountain resort village, with hotels built in the typical Swiss chalet style. It's rather expensive, and boasts good haute-cuisine restaurants, featuring both Savoyard and classic French cuisine. For less expensive lodging options, you may consider staying down around Chablet. It is connected to Verbier by a gondola - the same one that continues up to the Verbier ski slopes.
