City's main square, dominated by Rathaus (New Town Hall) and its watch tower (Glockenspiel). Every day, it chimes and re-enacts stories from the 16th century. It consists of 43 bells and 32 life-sized figures. Medieval Old Town Hall and Peterskirche complete the square. The pedestrian zone around is a crowded area with numerous shops and restaurants.

Frauenkirche is the main Munich's Gothic cathedral, built in 1479. The south tower is open to those wishing to climb the stairs and offers a unique view of Munich and the nearby Alps.
