This old mine is situated on 10 km (6 1/4 miles) south of Kitzbühel. Jochberg was first mentioned as a mining village in 1447. By 1830 there were 16 km (10 miles) of working galleries and 2 km (1 mile) of shafts on various levels. In its heyday, the mine employed 160 men over 30 km (18 3/4 miles) and 134 tons of copper ore were extracted every year. In 1990, the old gallery was made into the "Kupferplatte" mining museum, where visitors can descend 500 m by pit railway.

The church, first mentioned in 1373, is on two floors. The original church tower was not wide enough to house a large bell, therefor a new bell tower, 48 metres high (158 ft) was added to the West side of the chapel in 1566/69. The bell with its 6.332 kg is considered sounding most beautiful in the country and is Kitzbühel´s pride and joy. The church interior is decorated in high baroque style.
