Disneyland

The original Disney-themed amusement park, the hugely popular family destination of Disneyland features the iconic Sleeping Beauty Castle, parades of Disney characters live shows, firework displays and classic rides that range from tame (Alice in Wonderland, Dumbo the Flying Elephant to thrilling ( Space Mountain Splash Mountain Indiana Jones Adventure).
Universal Studios Hollywood

A combination of theme park and one of Hollywood's oldest movie studios still in use, Universal Studios Hollywood has a good mix of high-octane rides such as Jurassic Park: The Ride Transformers: The Ride 3D and King Kong: 360-3D and other attractions: the Special Effects Stage showcasing special effects, the Waterworld show, plus movie sets such as the Bates' Motel from "Psycho".
Disney California Adventure

Disneyland's sister park, Disney California Adventure features Disney and Pixar characters, kid-friendly activities such as the Jedi Training Academy, thrill rides such as California Screamin' and The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror as well as a few tamer rides for younger kids, such as The Little Mermaid - Ariel's Undersea Adventure
Six Flags Magic Mountain

The Six Flags Magic Mountain is a hugely popular amusement park specializing in thrill rides, with more roller coasters than any other amusement park in existence. Signature extreme rides include Apocalypse Full Throttle and The Riddler's Revenge but there are also family rides such as Tidal Wave
Knott's Berry Farm

One of California's oldest and most popular amusement parks, Knott's Berry Farm has a good selection of roller coasters, water rides, kiddie rides and historical rides. Standout rides include Boomerang Montezooma's Revenge Supreme Scream and Timber Mountain Log Ride
Hollywood

Hollywood, the home of the entertainment industry, including several of its historic studios. The Tinseltown mythology of Los Angeles was born there. Walk the renowned Hollywood Walk of Stars to find your favorite celebrities. The adjacent San Fernando Valley is home to many of the sets and artists that have made Los Angeles famous: Disney, Warner Bros., Universal, and NBC Television Studios.
