Another curiosity is the observatory of Ulugbek (Timur's grandson). Only the foundations remain but it is truly extraordinary. The only thing that was preserved is a part of huge sextant – major astronomic instrument, the lowest part of which was in a deep trench (11km). Even being preserved partially, the observatory of Ulugbek is unique not only for Central Asia, but also for the whole world. Here was also organized museum, where collecting the unique astronomic information and instruments related to Timurids epoch.

The core activity of the Jeyran Ecocenter is the breeding and preservation of rare species and rational use of population recourses, scientific researches in the sphere of biology of desert species, ecotourism, filming and excursions.

How to get there
There are airports in both cities. Samarkand is 200mi/4hr from Tashkent. Bukhara is further 170 mi / 3.5 hr down the road from Samarkand.
