Noted for its unique fauna and geology the peninsula has a surface area of 3,625 square kilometers connected to the main land by a narrow isthmus. From October till March penguins are hedging on the shore. From June to mid-December it's whale watching season. Other inhabitants include sea lions, elephant seals, armadillos, guanacos, maras and gray foxes. If you're lucky you can spot Orcas (killer whales) snatching seals from the shore at Punta Norte during April.

El Bosque de Arrayanes is a forest of rare, orange colored trees that only grow on a local island (and one in Japan). Take the circuit bus out of Bariloche and catch a boat and have lunch, hike or bike, and enjoy the afternoon in the forest.

San Carlos de Bariloche (aka Bariloche) is a city in the province of Río Negro, Argentina, situated on the foothills of the Andes, surrounded by lakes and mountains. It is famous for skiing but also great for sight-seeing, water sports, trekking and climbing. Another claim to fame is its Swiss-like atmosphere and its chocolate boutiques and breweries.

El Chaltén is in the Patagonian region of southern Argentina. This area is a trekking mecca. It includes laguna de los Tres, laguna Torre, the Condor mirador and other sights.

Take a cruise of Lake Nahuel Huapi. Numerous stops allow you to wander in Andean rain forest and enjoy the stunning scenery from the turquoise waters of the lake.

The Marble Caves are located on Lake General Carrera/Buenos Aires (Depends which side of the lake you are on). It is a unique geological formation featuring a group of caverns, tunnels and pillars created in monoliths of blue marble and formed by waves over the last 6,000 years or so. The boat tours usually leave from Puerto Tranquillo, Río Ibáñez. You can aslo travel in a small boat or kayak
