The Jericoacoara beach is reputedly one of the most beautiful beaches in Brazil, although mostly too shallow for real swimming. It is made of very fine gray sand that gets hard on low tide, and is wide and flat. Every evening a crowd climbs the "Por-do-Sol" dune to watch the sunset over the ocean, a rare view in Brazil, as very little of its coast faces west.

"The Brazilian Maldives" can be found near Jericoacoara. Once you drive a dune buggy inland you can find fresh water lagoons promptly called Paradise Lagoon (Lagoa Paraiso) and Blue Lagoon (Lagoa Azul). Definitely worth a visit.

Jericoacoara is one of the best spots in the world for windsurfing and the best in Brazil, for both experienced windsurfers and beginners. There is a decent wave, not really high but nicely rideable, with side-off wind. There is a Vela Windsurf station if you want to rent the equipment.

Jericoacoara is a hot spot for kitesurfing, offering both flat water lagoon and wave riding, as well as long downwinders (dune buggies are readily available to ride upwind)

The Arched Rock has become the symbol of Jericoacoara. It offers beautiful vistas from all directions. If you happen to be in Jeri between June 15th and July 30th, you will have the good fortune to witness the sunset right in the middle of the Arch; it's an excellent photo opportunity.

A small resort village of Jericoacoara has a unique feature: you don't wear any shoes there. All streets are "paved" with sand. It's sand everywhere: beach, streets, hotel courtyards, restaurants, nightclubs. Pack your shoes away while there.

A bunch of small outfits organize buggy rides through the dunes, over the rivers, and mangrove forests, typically ending with a seafood lunch at one of the freshwater lagoons, and an option to do dune sand-boarding on the way. The scenery is surreal.

With only a half-dozen "nightclubs" Jerri party scene is nevertheless unique and animated. Everything is open-air, everything is barefoot. On-the-beach restaurants are open through the night, and with the nightfall, the "main drag", Via Principal, and the beach are transformed into one large party ground, with caipiroskas, caipirinhas and grilled fish sold off of push carts.
