Opposing monsoon seasons in the north and south mean that seasonal changes are different in north, central, and south Vietnam ( details ). This means it's always high season somewhere in Vietnam, and the tropical south is always warm.

Warning: Tropical diseases such as malaria, dengue fever and Japanese encephalitis are endemic in rural Vietnam. Malaria isn't as much a concern in the bigger cities such as Ho Chi Minh and Hanoi, but always take mosquito repellent with you. Do not drink tap water.
From July to November, violent and unpredictable typhoons may hit central and northern Vietnam.
Visas may be required, even for the US and European citizens
