Almost the entire coastline is one huge sandy beach, protected from waves by coral reef. Sunbathing, swimming, snorkeling, diving and all things water.

World class kite-, wind-, SUP- and classic surfing. From challenging but manageable Manawa to notorious, pro-only One-Eye break, one of the fastest waves in the world. Shallow reef-protected flat-water lagoon for free-style kiters and beginners. Clear warm water. Consistently windy during the "winter" (June through October)
-
Couple dozen of world-class coral reef dive sites. Expect to see beautiful corals and large shoals of colourful fish. You may get a chance to see the rare stone fish, dolphins, guitar shark and turtles, as well as whales further out to sea during the winter months. There’s a wreck of a Japanese fishing boat at Stella Maru

A weirdly colored patch of land. (In reality, it's not as colorful as on most photos -- it's a tourist trap of sorts) Plus, nice Chamarel Falls on the way to

Mauritius' biggest and best national park, a wild expanse of rolling hills and thick forest covering 2% of the island's surface -- all of what remained of tropical forest once covering most of the island. A gorge -- 500m deep, with kind of smooth forested walls, not too dramatic --, a couple of waterfalls and rim view sites. 60 km of hiking trails. Home to three of the island's most endangered bird species – the Mauritius kestrel, the echo parakeet and the pink pigeon.
-
Billed as "nature park" it's in fact a glorified zoo, with a good collection of birds, plus somehow tamed white lions and cheetahs -- you can enter the cage and pet them, for a price. The other part is "safari" featuring zebras and ostriches, shamelessly sticking their necks inside the bus begging for bread. You can drive through in an open bus, on AWD quad or even Segway.

SSR Botanical Garden in Port Louis. In addition to its photogenic giant waterlilies, the garden also features spices, ebonies, sugar canes, as well as 85 varieties of palms. For a long time ‘ranked third among all the gardens that could be admired over the surface of the globe’
-
Trou aux Cerfs, a dormant volcano with a well-defined cone and crater. It is 605 m high and located in Curepipe. The crater is 350m in diameter, and is 80m deep.
