Cabo San Lucas has several excellent white-sand beaches. Playa Medano, front the Bahia de Cabo San Lucas, is ideal for sunbathing; almost unspoiled Playa del Amor (Lovers' Beach), near Land's End, is only reachable by boat, and Playa del Divorcio (Divorce Beach), connected to Lovers' Beach, is one of the best places to watch the sunset, though the undertow makes it dangerous for swimming.

Cabo San Lucas is a party town and a favourite with Spring Breakers. Its drinking institutions include El Squid Roe, where everyone is welcome to dance on tabletops while downing jello shots, Cabo Wabo Cantina, with its college frat party ambiance, Mango Deck, where you can sip margaritas while watching the sunset and ride a mechanical bull, and Slim's Elbow Room - allegedly the world's smallest bar.

There is a number of dive sites around Cabo, good for seeing tropical marine life and the world famous Sand Falls. There are over 800 species of marine life to be seen

Cabo San Lucas has a very varied dining scene. Choose from Mexican fine dining at La Fonda, all-night fish tacos at Venado, a Eurocentric menu at Peacocks, ultra-fresh seafood at Mariscos de Mazatlan and Mariscos Mocamba and huge steaks at Brazilian Steak House.

Besides water-based activities such as sunset cruises, parasailing, surfing the beaches of the Cabo Corridor and getting up close and personal with the fish in a 60ft submarine, Cabo San Lucas also offers land-based sports, such as ATV offroad adventures and buggy rides along mountain trails and dried river beds.

Between October and March, thousands of grey whales migrate to the shallow bays around the Baja Peninsula. Whale Watch Cabo and Cabo Whale Trek take passengers whale-watching on small motorized rubber dinghies and get close to the leaping whales.

Cabo San Lucas is a world-class deep sea fishing destination. Operators such as Minerva's Baja Tackle and BJC Sport Fishing take customers out fishing for marlin, dorado, tuna, wahoo and more.

Warm air and water, long sandy beaches and consistent strong winds (20-25kts from November to April) make La Ventana a popular wintering grounds for kite- and windsurfers. For kitesurfing in particular, the steady side-shore winds, smooth medium-sized swells, wide sandy beaches, and huge area to kite make Ventana Bay perfect for people at all experience levels. A number of right-on-the-beach hotels offer sail-in / sail-out accommodations. Located 70 mi / 2 hrs north of Cabo San Lucas, La Ventana is not as posh and expensive. Sailing is in the Sea of Cortez, not in the Pacific Ocean, and thus it's bump-and-jump -- no big ocean waves

The best time to visit to avoid the winter and Spring Break crowds is May & June and October & November. Whale watching is best between December and March, fishing is best in late summer and fall. July and August are hottest and get the most storms.
